Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your office located? Do you offer virtual sessions?

I see clients in person in New York, NY and New Jersey, and also offer Telehealth sessions for adults in New York and New Jersey.

Is parking available?

For in-person sessions, there is street parking as well as nearby parking garages. I’m happy to provide specific recommendations when you schedule your appointment.

What are your office hours?

I offer sessions during weekdays, including some evening availability to accommodate working schedules. Please reach out to discuss current openings.

How long is a typical session?

Sessions are generally 50 minutes, which allows time for reflection, exploration, and discussion without feeling rushed.

How do I get started?

The first step is to reach out by email or phone. We’ll schedule an initial consultation to discuss your needs, answer any questions, and determine whether we are a good fit.

What is the hourly fee?

Please contact me directly for current session rates.

How does payment work?

Payment is accepted through secure online payment methods. Payment is typically due at the end of the month.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently, I do not bill insurance directly. I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows.

Can I cancel an appointment? What is your cancellation policy?

Yes. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. This helps maintain consistency for all clients.

What is a free initial consultation?

This is a brief call where we can talk about your needs, answer questions, and explore whether therapy with me is a good fit for you. It is not a therapy session, but an opportunity to connect and clarify next steps.

What is the age range of your clients?

I work with adults, generally age 18 and older, including young adults navigating life transitions, identity, and relational challenges.

What can I expect in the first session?

We’ll spend time getting to know each other, understanding your goals, and exploring what brings you to therapy. You can expect a warm, non-judgmental space to share at your own pace.

What is therapy like with you?

Therapy with me is reflective, collaborative, and compassionate. I help clients explore patterns beneath their thoughts and feelings, make sense of experiences, and build insight and awareness. It is a space for curiosity, understanding, and growth.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies for each individual. Some clients benefit from short-term work, while others choose longer-term exploration to gain deeper insight and understanding.

Do I have to tell you everything?

No. You share at your own pace. Therapy is most effective when it feels safe and collaborative, so you never have to disclose anything you are not ready to explore.

Do you offer video or phone sessions?

Yes, I provide Telehealth sessions for clients. This allows flexibility and access from wherever you are.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Therapy is a partnership. You’ll know if it feels like a good fit if you feel safe, heard, and supported in exploring your experiences. The initial consultation is a great opportunity to see if our approach resonates with you.

I’ve never been to therapy before and I’m used to handling things on my own. Does going to therapy mean I’m weak?

Not at all. Seeking therapy is an act of strength and self-awareness. It takes courage to examine patterns and emotions in a safe space. Therapy is about growth, not weakness.

How is therapy different from talking to friends or family?

Therapy provides a neutral, confidential space guided by professional expertise. I help you understand patterns, explore emotions, and reflect in ways that friends or family may not be able to.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

You bring your experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Together, we explore patterns, reflect on your emotional life, and work toward understanding, insight, and meaningful change. There is no homework unless it feels helpful to your process.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Sessions are private and confidential, with exceptions only as required by law, such as risk of harm to yourself or others.

How long have you been in practice?

I have close to 20 years of experience in the mental health field, including over a decade of clinical experience working psychodynamically and psychoanalytically. I have worked with adults from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and identity backgrounds across a wide range of emotional and relational challenges.

What are your strengths as a therapist?

I bring warmth, curiosity, and reflective guidance. I help clients gain insight, notice patterns, and connect with their own wisdom, while creating a safe, collaborative space for exploration.

Do you take notes?

Yes, I take brief clinical notes for the purpose of tracking progress and planning future sessions. Notes are kept confidential.
